The Dustmen Worship A Giant Gobot Named 'Dumper'
KT, I dunno about xp, I haven't calculated it yet. It usually comes at the end of an adventure, not right here in the middle of a room.

...

Dag, not really any great way to keep the door shut. The only thing in the room is a bunch of dead bodies. Plus, inactive spiderbot. You could try piling them up if you wanted.

I'll assume your recap is a question to the other PCs, not to me.

...

Thak, okay, you open the door.

(After searching the bodies. Three more straightrazors, each a bit different from the others. These things look homemade.)

Whoa. It opens into a giant room, lit from above and across the way (plus your own lantern light). The room is full of junk. Almost literally- this is basically a junkyard. A lot of the junk is in a big pile underneath a hole in the ceiling- maybe it gets dropped down here? Right by the largest pile is a huge... contraption.

After staring at it for several seconds, it looks a lot like Tut's spiderbot. Just, more like several meters tall. And around. It's a spindly brass... hell, it's sort of like one of those giant industrial robots used in car factories, crossed with the Hoth Iceplanet survey droid from the beginning of Empire Strikes Back. Got it?

It seems to be searching or sorting through the junk, slowly, with a jerky automatic grace.

So some of the light comes from this big hole above, about forty feet up, presumably in the heart of the DM Compound. The other light source is a small glowing candelabra on the other side of the room. You can see a little sketch posted above a shelf and an oddly-wide cot. Looks like a sketch of two little kids, one next to the other, but from the distance here, it's hard to make out details. There's some other stuff on the shelf, and looking carefully, sure enough...

You see a little tin crown.

The enormous gobot does not seem to register your presence- in the doorway, far from it.

More Dustmen, Rounds 1 And 2
Think about it this way: more combat, more danger, equals more xp. There may be no I in team, but there is xp in ruxpin.

Anyway, the dustmen go for the three melee people: Dag, Az, and Thak. What are you guys, like cavemen or something?

Dag, hit for 3, Az, hit for 4, Thak miss.

Nice dmg guys- in round 2, Dag finishes off DM 1.

Round 2 dmg: Thak, double damage for 10. Yikes.

Also, you guys did have 30 min before, so if you wanna cast any spells, eat goodberries, or if anyone has Healing NWP, go ahead and do it.

Go for rounds 1-4 people.

HP:
Az: 2/13
Dag: 3/14
KT: 10/22
Spiderbot: X/37
Thaka: 4/30
Theo: 10/10
Thren: 9/10

  Fell Asleep On The Job
Well, you guys snuck into their basement and killed some of their dudes.

Then you take a nap?

It's only natural that three more Dustmen show up on first watch. They're probably wondering where their pals went or something. No weird twins or axebeaks though. They come down the stairs. Whoever's on first watch has enough time to wake everyone else, then we're in the thick of it.

Go ahead and post combat actions, fellows. No, you don't have hp or spells back, because only 30 minutes or so went by.

Combat Over... But Where Is The Crown?
Yeah, the Axebeak is cool if you're cool. I mean, this ain't really his fight. He's got some work to do. You know? Redoing the bathroom. Damn toilet sprung a leak cause the kids keep flushing god knows what down it. Actually he's supposed to be waiting for the plumber right now. He's only around for 6 rounds from the MS2 anyway.

He looks at his watch. Tut, okay, you grab the shuriken wand.

The Axebeak disappears.

...

With that all out of the way, you proceed into the Dustmen's compound.

...

The corridor goes about ten feet. It's made from really nice marble. There are stairs that go up, into the darkness. Under the stairs, right at your level, is a big door, marked with another asterisk. You hear the sounds of scraping, some metallic sounds coming from behind it. If you listen at the door and make your check (half WIS or something), you hear faint voices and footsteps.

There are some strange runes or hieroglyphs carved into a bronze plaque next to the door.

Up the stairs?
Through the door?
Fuck this and go, Axebeak style?

Big Combat Round 2 Update, And Into Round 3
Tut, you know how combat goes. Slowly. It's not an easy problem to solve, or necessarily soluble: one player posts a lot, multiple combat rounds. Another person posts once a week. The rat fight worked so well because it was essentially six independent combats. This ain't.

There've been times when a single combat took a couple weeks. Hopefully this won't be that.

I get some pretty good coffee from this Italian restaurant that has great brunch on the weekends. Not seeing Super Bowl, but I watched a lot of college football bowl game highlights. The Fiesta Bowl was fucking crazy, what a great finish. Boise State? Who knew?

...

Theo, you kill the Dustman with your powerful arrow! Just kidding. Dink.

Dag, nice strong beginning. The Dustman is looking bad. Wow that guy has a lot- er, had a lot- of hp.

Coming into round 3 people. Two spells go off- a Web, so everyone make a save to avoid being caught in the damn web. And another magic missile at the Spiderbot. It powers down.

KT, whether or not you connect in those posted rolls depends on your saves...

Az: 6/13
Dag: 6/14
KT: 10/22
Spiderbot: X/37

  Big Combat, Round 1, Fight!
Dustmen are clever and cunning and have a good dex and stuff so they go first. KT, seeing you cast gets both their attacks. You take 10 hp dmg and there's a critical fumble on you.

Okay, KT... BR:7. Well, the guy's charmed. Nice work. The Dustman casually steps aside to permit butchering of his weird pals.

Spiderbot closes to melee.

Little Combat Over, Big Combat Begin
Check it out, we're blogging in blog 2.0 or something! The label for this post is HELL YES.

Okay, let's see. Just got into the office, sipping coffee, looking at combat actions. *sip*

...

First, retconning.

Theo, no, it's cool. 2 gps is fine for horse crunk. It's enough to put out the mini-Cerebus.

Thak and KT, okay, you guys build the world's first flush toilet. In fact, I'm gonna add that to the label below. Well done. Everyone gains 50 xp for being part of this revolution in sanitation technology. Huygens levels, gains 2 hp, takes 'Dapper' as his NWP.

...

Back to it.

Thak, yikes, you kill that midget good. If you want him subdued, you can have that too I think, you took that NWP, right?

Dag, okay great. Thren is up.

Goodberries as a free action. Uh, right. Votes? What do y'all think about that?

...

Anyway. Our brave heroes, having slain the three small fellows, quickly take stock of the situation. You might have captives, but before you can interrogate them, the combat starts up anew! Coming through the door are three... no, four more opponents ready to do battle.

Two of them are very tall, very pale- almost bone white, and dressed in brown burlap robes. They seem to be those Dustmen you observed several days ago carting off bodies from the factory fight. Each of them carries an extremely sharp straightrazor, the kind used for shaving very close.

The other one, or two- is a set of Siamese twins! A boy and a girl, joined at the hip. They are casting! Protected by the Dustmen, they get two spells off right away. Mage spells from the sound of it, Threnody... But that's the last you hear as two magic missiles pummel you for 7, dropping you back down to -2!

The Dustmen are silent, but the girl says "Not for you, this place. You shan't have come here."

Do something. Dustmen are AC:6. Twins are AC:2 for missile fire and can't be reached by melee right now.
